How Does It Work
Addyi/Flibanserin is a novel serotonin agonist and antagonist. Libido is positively regulated by dopamine, norepinephrine, testosterone, and estrogen. Whereas, serotonin and prolactin have a negative effect on libido. Addyi/Flibanserin works as a full agonist at the post-synaptic 5HT1A receptors and an antagonist/partial antagonist at the post-synaptic 5HT2A, 5HT2B, 5HT2C and dopamine D4 receptors. The result is a downstream release of dopamine and norepinephrine and reduction of serotonin in the prefrontal cortex of the brain increasing sexual interest and desire.
